Job Purpose

An Investigation & Physical Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of personnel, property, and assets within the framework and policies of the Watu Credit Tanzania. This role involves monitoring and controlling access, conducting security patrols, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures. In this role, you'll develop and implement security policies, conduct risk assessments, manage a physical security team, and manage alarm systems. You'll monitor security systems, coordinate with law enforcement during incidents, and maintain detailed security reports. Additionally, you'll develop emergency response plans and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Investigation & Security Officer

• Responsible for technical support and maintenance of the company's security equipment. Troubleshooting problems, configuring hardware, software, and gadgets within a set scope.
• Implementation and maintenance of new security system accounts and setups - CCTV, Intruder Alarm, Access control.
• Access Control: Manage entry points, verify identification, and ensure only authorized personnel have access to restricted areas.
• Conduct routine patrols of the premises to detect and report any unusual activity or security threats.
• Respond to security-related incidents, disturbances, and emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, observations, and investigations.
• Ensure adherence to security policies, local laws, and company regulations.
• Act swiftly in case of fires, alarms, or evacuations, following established protocols.
• Create and enforce comprehensive security policies covering various scenarios, including break-ins and proper equipment usage.
• Conduct security awareness training for the Watu Staff.
• Continuously monitor and maintain security systems to ensure optimal functionality and timely updates.
• Prepare and maintain detailed reports on incidents, maintenance activities, and training sessions.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters and active shooter situations.
• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations, maintaining compliance with all security practices.
• Conduct thorough investigations on external security-related incidents, including theft, fraud, vandalism, and any criminal activity affecting the company.
• Conducting verification checks of the landlords for the employees' rental properties (housing benefit)
• Coordinate and supervise security activities at the branch and head office levels.

2. General

• Follow the Company Procedure and policies
• Prepare internal reports
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant legal/regulatory frameworks.
• Maintain an updated log of all investigations and outcomes

Key performance indicators

• Solution of the 100% account administration tickets within the onboarding SLA average
• Delivery of 85% security implementation within the given project SLA average
• Monthly overview and incident report of the company security accounts.
• Access Control & Monitoring.

Qualifications

Education level:

• Advanced diploma or equivalent (additional security training or certification preferred).

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT and Operations in physical security roles.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar or project management role.

Technical skills:

1. Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
2. Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
5. Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and perform security duties for extended periods.
6. Experience with some of the main security equipment manufacturers or distributors of equipment
7. Familiarity with security systems and equipment (CCTV, access control, alarms).
8. Knowledge of relevant safety and security regulations.
