We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, competent, and experienced individual to fill the vacant position of a Sales Executive for Watu simu product at Watu Uganda.

Role Summary; The Sales Executive holds a critical role in advancing the company’s mission of expanding access to smartphone devices across Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities;
Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the assigned team.
  • Ensure the safeguarding and continuous improvement of portfolio quality.
  • Maintain excellent business relationships with the dealers in the assigned region and troubleshoot their issues effectively in a timely manner.
  • Organize and lead the training for the Front officers in the region to ensure 100% awareness of the on boarding process, portfolio quality, client prospecting and KYC, after sales processes and other applicable Watu processes.
  • Field visits: conduct Field visits independently and with the team of Sales Representatives to dealership management and Front officers as per target field visits level.
  • Drive the acquisition of new dealerships and maintain strong relationships within assigned regions.
  • Achieve sales growth in alignment with targets set by senior management.
  • Lead regional market penetration with focus on agency model dealers and business expansion initiatives.
  • Ensure 100% Watu app sign up rate in the region, Champion and Promote Watu app usage by the customers and installment Payments made via the App.
Key Deliverables:
The Sales Executive will be accountable for the achievement of sales and portfolio quality objectives through the following activities:
  • Building and maintaining effective partnerships with dealerships and their sales personnel.
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing the assigned team to maximize performance.
  • Delivering training programs to strengthen dealer capabilities, system knowledge, and compliance with sales and portfolio quality standards.
  • Execution of the Marketing Materials distribution to the market
  • Executing strategies for regional penetration and expansion.
  • Onboarding new dealerships with focus on the agency channel and enabling their sustained sales growth.
Core Responsibilities:

Dealership Management
  •  Direct Management of the assigned / acquired dealerships, ensuring  Sales and Quality targets are met and building a trustworthy relationship with dealerships.
  •  Analyse Dealer/Store/Front Officer/Device Model performance data regarding Sales and Quality and visit dealerships regularly to address performance gaps, train, strategize and ensure optimal product placement.
  • Monitor dealerships staffing levels as well as sufficient product availability keeping the dealership accountable for optimum stock and HR resourcing;
  • Manage relationships with dealers and maintain dealership accounts by attending to escalated issues, branding support, training of dealer staff, and problem-solving escalated issues to enhance achievement of targets as assigned to each dealer;
  • Organize periodic regional meetings with Dealerships to communicate updates, strategize and listen to queries and concerns.
  • Oversee the training of Active Dealer staff to ensure dealers are well equipped with the relevance skills in support of dealer performance on revenue targets.
  • Field visits: conduct Field visits independently and with the team of Sales Representatives to dealership management and Front officers as per target field visits level.
Dealership Acquisition:
  • Carry out mapping of Smartphone Dealerships in the Territory with focus on agency channel dealerships, identifying the most potential dealerships and generating a lead and acquisition plan.
  • Acquisition of new dealerships as per set target with the help of Sales Representatives team.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation, pitch, enrolment and closure.
Market analysis and Pricing/Marketing strategy:
  • Analyze industry market trends and develop competitive analysis forecasting into business development.
  • Identify opportunities for pricing structure changes based on market trends, and support implementation as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team on strategy to maximize product placement and execute marketing material distribution in the market.
Team Leadership:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of Sales Representatives supporting you to penetrate and manage the Territory.
  • Develop a detailed Route plan for your team and monitor team’s adherence to route plan as well as controlled expenses via daily visits tracker and expense controls.
  • Motivate and coach team members to achieve visit, acquisition, sales and quality targets via weekly 121 with team members as well as through documented performance appraisals and Performance Improvement Plans when needed.
  • Participate in defining Sales team responsibilities, KPIs, bonuses, team structure.
  • Develop training content and conduct capability-building sessions for Sales Representatives, Dealerships and Front Officers.
Reporting & Forecasting:
  • Undertake data analysis to develop sales forecasts and sales team targets that are aligned with the department sales budgeting timelines and templates
  • Submit weekly reports of sales trends, forecasts and sales performance;
  • Monitor the sales spending against approved budgets, and report on the same as per the department reporting timelines and templates;
  • Serve as a role model and inspirational example for Sales Representatives and talents in the team by constantly achieving the KPIs and demonstrating highly professional business behaviour and growth attitude.
  • Champion company’s business decisions, understand the rationale behind, and act as a promoter for the broader Sales team and externally.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1                  Sales target, Portfolio quality and Repayment KPIs, Responsible for the New dealership acquisition, App Sign Up and App usage/Repayment rates within the defined territory/region.
Constant presence in the field, providing supervision to internal sales team and dealerships.
Collaboration with the internal team on efficiency projects, operational tasks and day-to-day tasks;
2Direct Management of the assigned / acquired dealerships - Sales performance, targets and issue resolution;
Oversee Smartphone sales by developing a sales strategy that covers sales forecast, and expense controls for the sales team;
Efficient Territory management and development of Market penetration strategy for the region, recruiting new local dealers with focus on agency channel. Execution of Recruitment of the new dealerships (ground search approach, referral approach) and support of the new dealers to make 1st sale and grow sales afterwards.
3Analyse the Dealer’s/Store’s/Front Officer’s/Device Model performance data including Sales, Never paid and Offline rates, deliver this information to Dealership owner during the field visit or meeting, identifying gaps in performance and executing the corrective actions;
  • Fraud Prevention and Quality Assurance:
    • Minimize Fraud: Monitor DSR activities to prevent fraud and ensure high-quality sales.
    • Achieve Quality Sales: Strive to maintain a Never Paid (NP) rate of ≤3% and an Offline rate of ≤6%.
Monitor dealerships staffing levels as well as sufficient product availability keeping the dealership accountable for optimum flow;
Submit weekly reports of sales trends, forecasts and sales performance;
4Undertake data analysis to develop sales forecasts and sales team targets that are aligned with the department sales budgeting timelines and templates;
Support Team Performance: Assist Sales Representatives in meeting their targets and provide daily guidance and support.
Conduct performance reviews for the sales team and provide coaching documenting both in emails and performance documents;
Based on sales forecasts, project staffing needs to support the recruitment process for new and existing roles;
Execution of a weekly 121 with Sales Representatives and minutes sharing on email;
Execution of group team meetings;
Execution and control PIP program for sales team;
5Analyze industry market trends and develop competitive analysis forecasting into business development;
Identify opportunities for pricing structure changes based on market trends, and support implementation as appropriate;
Execute marketing material distribution in the market; In-store Visibility: Maximize Watu Simu visibility in stores through strategic placement of POS materials and displays.
6Monitor the sales spending against approved budgets, and report on the same as per the department reporting timelines and templates;
7Manage relationships with dealers and maintain dealership accounts by attending to escalated issues, branding support , training of dealer staff, any escalated issues to enhance achievement of targets as assigned to each dealer;
Oversee the training of Active Dealer staff to ensure dealers are well equipped with the relevance skills in support of dealer performance on revenue targets;
Conduct Regular Visits: Conduct regular physical visits to dealer locations to maintain strong relationships and monitor performance.
Engage in WhatsApp Groups: Actively participate in dealership WhatsApp groups, especially focusing on on boarding and FO account creations. Resolve Operational Issues: Escalate and resolve operational issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to sales activities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    •  Continuously seek ways to improve performance and operational efficiency.
  • Implement Best Practices: 
    • Apply best practices and share insights with the team to enhance overall performance.
  • Compliance
  • Refrain from selling stock to/for dealers to avoid any applicable consequences to your employment under Watu.
  • Avoid poaching DSRs from one dealer to another, or face applicable consequences to your employment under Watu.

Attend timely approvals of team route plans, and monitor team compliance with the plans to enhance adherence in support of the sales plans ensuring timely submission of route plan requests and meeting TAT for reporting expenses; 
Development and execution of the rules of dealer/shop visits.
Fulfill and control the team’s submissions in the Sales Team daily visits tracker;

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • The Ideal candidate must be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, or a related field.
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in sales and Marketing and 1 years of experience working with a credit /fin tech company
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software for data entry and scheduling.
  • Ability to handle inquiries and concerns with patience and professionalism.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to customer service.
  • Team player with a customer-centric mind-set.
  • Well-developed computer skills, including proven ability to use google sheets and company systems
